Numerography

This website blog chronicles my exploration into using symbology to represent alternative numerical base systems. My ultimate goal is to uncover and simplify known, and unknown, mathematical processes and connections between these systems. This is a hobby and should be taken as such. Thanks for visiting.

023 Trincubinquadric (432) Introduction

At first glance, 432 seems like a strange choice for a number base, but it may prove to be an important number in unifying bases twelve, sixteen and twenty seven.

At first glance, 432 seems like a strange choice for a number base, but it may prove to be an important number in unifying bases twelve, sixteen and twenty seven. 432 is the product of sixteen and twenty seven, and it just so happens that it is also the least common denominator of twelve, sixteen and twenty seven.

432 is the sum of four consecutive primes, (103 + 107 + 109 + 113).
1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9,
12, 16, 18, 24, 27, 36, 48, 54, 72, 108, 144, 216, 432
432 = 2 x 3 x 2 x 3 x 2 x 3 x 2
432 = 2^4 x 3^3

One idea I had was to combine two systems into one. The systems I worked out for
Binquadric and Trincubic could be combined to create all the combinations necessary for a base 432 system.

The left part of the glyph uses the
Tricubic pattern, 3 ternary sub digits, and the right part of the glyph uses a Binquadric pattern, 4 binary sub digits.

Using the Repeat Transform feature on the sub-digits in Photoshop, (thank you Adobe), I was able to quickly illustrate all 432 combinations:
