Mar 24, 2011

In 2011, I changed some Advanced Blending settings for individual layers to allow complete support for 16bit conversion. I also updated the name, as the previous name was the butt of too many jokes.

GMA_Analyzer_RGB_Smart_Object_v090830.psd.zip
Aug 30, 2009

In 2009, I decided to create a version that used Sibling Smart Objects for its bitmap comparison imagery. Alter a single Smart Object interior, and all the images across the file update.

GMA_Analyzer_RGB_Mini_v090617.psd.zip
Jun 17, 2009

Similar to the 2002 Micro version, I created a cropped, leaner file, that only contains a full size Input/Output curve.

GMA_Spherize_Analyzer_v061216.psb.zip
Dec 16, 2006

This Input/Output graph charts the distortion falloff of the Spherize filter. Alter the Smart Filter value to see the rounding that it applies.

GMA_Mini_Convertable_Analyzer_v061216.psd.zip
Dec 16, 2006

This is a simple Input/Output version that allows conversion back and forth between RGB and CMYK. The RGB version is inverted to black, which corrects the hues of the individual channel lines.

GMA_Analyzer_CMYK_Simplified_v061012.psd.zip
Oct 12, 2006

This is a cropped, more simplified version, that I used when creating RGB to CMYK targeted correction layers. Some of those layer are still left behind in the file for users to use as samples.

Nov 28, 2005

I went on to create a simplified Layer Group Set that contained a functional Input/Output Curve Analyzer. This Layer Group Set could be dragged to any file, allowing users to incorporate UI into layouts. Corrections could be placed into the Group to view instant results.

I then created an encrypted version of this file. It runs a little slower than its predecessors, but makes for an interesting case study for those that are interested.

All the layers in the file look like noise when viewed individually. When all of them are turned on and the file is viewed at 100% size, the UI renders properly and is usable.

A full set of instructions are included around the border of file.

I created this file to protect the layer technology within, back when I was considering marketing it as a product. It’s guaranteed to give anyone trying to dissect the file a headache.

GMA_Conversion_Separation_Analyzer_v050120.psb.zip
Jan 20, 2005

In 2005, I experimented with an input/output graph that displayed color separations when converting to CMYK. This allowed users to see exactly how Color Tables and ICC profiles were distributing the information. Simply change your color settings and convert the template to CMYK to display the separation curves.

Mid 2003, I finished the CMYK version. It contains the same features that the previous RGB version has, but also includes many useful CMYK specific functions:

- Additional before/after CMY only ramp
- X/Y ramp fading from CMYK to CMY
- Additional CMY view for bitmap image
- Additional K channel breakdown
- Additional K channel mixture gauge
- Bitmap image view of Undercolor
- Bitmap image view of Overcolor
- Bitmap image view of Summation
- Heat map illustrating Dmax values
- Patch comparison of SWOP Dmax mixtures

In early 2003, I made some changes to the frames, naming, and layer organization. It went from being called The Tool to Adjustment Layer Analyzer. The GMA prefix is a reference to my name, Greg M. Apodaca.

In late 2002, I developed the layout that is still used to this day. It contains UI that shows various image dynamics:

- Input Output Curve
- Before/After ramp and patches
- Bit map sample image
- RGB channel breakdown
- Channel mixture gauges
- Before/After Hue strips
- RGB channel breakdown of Hue strips
- Saturation guide when fading to white
- Saturation guide when fading to gray
- Saturation guide when fading to black
- Modal breakdown panes
- Modal ramp on pattern for visualization
